EcoHarvest for Corporate Buyers

We Make Investing in Regenerative Agriculture Pay Off

EcoHarvest project participation helps partners advance measurable, science-based outcomes across carbon, water, and biodiversity by:

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing carbon sequestration in soil
  • Improving water quality and supply shed resiliency
  • Improving habitat for pollinators, insects, and birds, and increasing biodiversity in the soil microbiome

These outcomes can be used to meet GHG inventory and other sustainability targets. EcoHarvest can also generate emission factors for utilization in Scope 3 inventory to meet Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi) commitments.

Maximized Investments

We identify—and work with—farmers who will best achieve outcomes that support your reporting requirements.

Integrated and Flexible

The first market program to quantify multiple environmental assets, our science- and research-driven approach enables us to respond to evolving corporate commitments.

Compounded Impact

A multi-year investment yields scalable, cumulative impact and assets.

What We Offer: Carbon

Allowing companies to report improved Scope 3 environmental impacts with internationally-recognized accounting and reporting standards

What We Quantify

  • Through soil sampling, modeling and emissions factors, outcomes from best management practices (BMPs)
  • BMPs include residue/tillage management, reduced tillage, cover crops, and nutrient management
  • Reductions/removals in carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide
  • Increases in soil organic carbon

Outcomes

  • Scope 3 soil organic carbon removals
  • Scope 3 GHG emissions reductions

What We Offer: Water

Through water quality reporting, EcoHarvest allows buyers to showcase how practices at the field level can improve water quality

What We Quantify

  • ESMC’s PLET Tool automates the calculation of water quality impacts from producers implementing BMPs, including cover cropping, nutrient management and reduced tillage
  • Annual runoff volume and reduced nutrient (nitrogen and phosphorus) and sediment loads
  • In development: Water outcomes at HUC 8 and 12 to enable regional assessments and better ecosystem service market integration

Outcomes

  • Outcomes in pounds of pollutant reduced per year
  • Creates a more resilient supply shed by linking on-farm practices to regional impact

What We Offer: Biodiversity

Through ESMC, EcoHarvest projects are leading the category in creating a biodiversity metric and associated standards. We are finalizing a structured biodiversity quantification approach, filling a critical gap in the market and laying the foundation for standardized biodiversity accounting.

What We Quantify

  • Scope 3 biodiversity outcomes to measure biodiversity habitat area type and pollinator value. This includes: habitat area, habitat condition, the area’s strategic significance rating, and area size
  • BMPs include cover cropping, tillage reduction, nutrient management, prescribed grazing and edge-of-field practices

Outcomes

  • Change in biodiversity units
  • These units represent the ecological value of a site before and after interventions such as BMPs

How Corporate Buyers Participate in EcoHarvest

From setting goals to paying farmers and tracking results, here’s how CPGs work with EcoHarvest to deliver on commitments.

Determine Supply Shed Needs

EcoHarvest tailors a project design based on CPG goals, target locations, and crops.

Identify and Enroll Farmers

EcoHarvest identifies and enrolls target farmers based on CPG project goals; farmers provide field data as part of enrollment.

Implement Practices

Farmers adopt or continue to use eligible conservation practices on fields in EcoHarvest project; EcoHarvest and partners provide agronomic and programmatic support.

Collect Data

EcoHarvest collects management & yield data and coordinates soil sampling as needed.

Generate Impacts

EcoHarvest and partners model outcomes and emission factors and provide to CPGs for annual accounting.

Pay Farmers

EcoHarvest pays farmers based on project design.

Achieve Sustainability Commitments

CPGs use outcomes to meet annual goals.
